Saskatoon police are unsure the severity of injuries a 56-year-old motorcyclist suffered in a collision with a deer shortly after midnight Saturday.

The crash occurred at 12:15 a.m. on the Circle Drive South Bridge. The motorcycle driver and a female passenger struck a deer on the bridge’s westbound lanes.

Both riders were taken to hospital. The woman was released after she was checked by medical staff. The man was still in hospital as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

“The 56-year-old male that was operating the motorcycle suffered a head injury and at this time the severity has not been determined,” police said in a media release.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor to the collision, the release stated.
