Don Toth

Saskatchewan Party – Don Toth

Over more than two decades of service, Don Toth says he has proven his commitment to the people of the Moosomin constituency.

Don was first elected to represent the Moosomin constituency in the 1986 general election. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007. He was named Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan on Dec. 10, 2007, the first day of the opening session of the 26th legislature.

Don was born in Kipling and raised on the family farm near Langbank. Don studied agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and then entered the Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, Sask.

Prior to his political career, Don served his community on a number of boards and organization and also served on an RM council.

In the Legislature, he has served as the legislative secretary to the minister of health and as chairman of the Crown Corporations Committee. He has also served as chairman of the Special Committee on Regulations and as opposition critic for justice.

As one of the eight founding members of the Saskatchewan Party, Don has served as the opposition's deputy house leader and deputy whip.

His critic duties also included health, highways, labour, the Public Service Commission, social services, and public safety and corrections. Don also served as the deputy critic for culture, youth and recreation.

Since 2007, Don has been Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and also served as the chair of the Legislature's Privileges House Committee, the House Services House Committee and the Board of Internal Economy.

Aside from his political duties, Don keeps himself busy helping on the farm and spending time with his wife Lois, their children, and most importantly, the three grandchildren.

Carol Morin

NDP – Carol Morin

Carol Morin was selected as the NDP candidate for Moosomin on June 4, 2011.

Carol has worked as a journalist for the CBC, CTV, APTN and various radio stations for thirty years and says she's now ready to take on the challenge of being an MLA.

She believes that being a parent to three children - Jackson, 15; Danny, 13; and Nahanni, 13 - has helped push her to move from reporting on events to taking a more active role in shaping them.

Carol's ties to the Moosomin region go back a long way, including being adopted as an honorary member of the Ochapowace First Nation.

"It was members of that community who taught me about my cultural heritage," she says.

"I believe we need to work on building stronger bridges among our communities to create a stronger region."
