A 48-year-old man wanted for sexual assault is actively evading police in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, RCMP investigators believe.

Vincent Desjarlais of Kylemore, Sask. was charged June 12 with sexual assault, sexual interference of a person under the age of 16, procuring miscarriage, and assault in relation to a complaint Wadena RCMP received in May from a health care worker.

The worker informed RCMP of a girl, under the age of 16, who was the victim of a sexual assault.

Desjarlais was charged following an investigation into the complaint and a warrant was issued for his arrest, but investigators have so far been unable to locate him.

An RCMP media release sent Tuesday asked the public for help finding Desjarlais.

The 48-year-old has connections in Punnichy, Saskatoon, Regina and the Yellow Quill First Nation in Saskatchewan, as well as the Long Plain First Nation in Manitoba, RCMP said. He could, however, be anywhere in either province.

Desjarlais is described as an aboriginal man with brown eyes and black hair that may be worn in a ponytail. He is five-foot-ten and 176 pounds with a medium build.

He has several tattoos on his arms — feathers on his upper right arm, various small tattoos on his right forearm, and an eagle head, red flower and daggers on his left arm — as well as a small red star tattooed on his neck. His right shoulder showcases a man with long hair, an eagle and feathers.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
