Ryan Meili will be representing the NDP in the upcoming Saskatoon Meewasin byelection.
The Saskatoon doctor was given the nod over competitor John Parry at a nomination meeting Monday night.
No date has been set for the byelection.
The Saskatoon Meewasin riding was most recently represented by Sask. Party MLA Roger Parent, who died last month after he was diagnosed with cancer.
The Saskatchewan Party is set to choose its candidate Jan. 30. Brent Penner, Marv Friesen and Roxanne Kaminski have all put their names forward for the party.
Other candidates include provincial Liberal Leader Darrin Lamoureux and David Prokopchuk, who is campaigning to be the Progressive Conservative Party candidate.
