The collision happened at the intersection of 23rd Street West and Avenue T North.

Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, police say a truck was travelling westbound on 23rd Street and approached an intersection with a four-way stop at Avenue T North. After stopping, the truck proceeded straight ahead and collided with the man, who was walking across 23rd Street.

He was taken to Royal University Hospital in critical condition by paramedics, but passed away a short time later.

The truck was being driven by a 47-year-old man. As of late Wednesday night, police say no charges had been laid, but their investigation is ongoing.
