A Saskatchewan man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a two-month-old infant was rushed to hospital with severe injuries last month.

Levar Avery Shingoose, 22, of the Cote First Nation was arrested Wednesday, RCMP said in a media release.

Police were called to the Kamsack Hospital July 29 following a report a two-month-old infant had been seriously injured.

RCMP immediately began investigating due to the nature of the injuries.

The infant was taken to Regina General Hospital via ambulance before being transferred to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Investigation by police from Yorkton, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert led to Shingoose’s arrest.

He is charged with one count of aggravated assault. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 4 in Yokrton.
