Human remains were found inside a Hanley home that burned down early Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Garfield Street in the central Saskatchewan town around 1:30 a.m. The home was nearly burnt to the ground when crews arrived.

A 45-year-old man, the lone occupant of the home, was unaccounted for at the time of the fire, according to RCMP.

The human remains have not yet been identified. The coroner’s office has since requested an autopsy.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Hanley is located about 65 kilometres south of Saskatoon.
