A 15-year-old girl is dead after she was struck by an SUV on Highway 16 at the Borden Bridge.

RCMP and Langham fire crews were called to the bridge — located about 45 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon, near Borden — just before 10 p.m. Friday.

A girl attempting to flag down a passing vehicle and walking in a driving lane was hit by an SUV, Mounties said in a media release. The SUV was travelling at highway speeds.

First responders performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but the teenager died on scene.

Alcohol was not a factor for the driver of the SUV, RCMP said.

Names have yet to be released. Police and the coroner’s office are still investigating.
