The family of a man who went missing just two weeks before his wedding worries he might be the person who fell into the South Saskatchewan River over the weekend.

28-year-old Gregory Myles MacIntosh, who is from Nova Scotia, was celebrating his bachelor party Saturday night at Outlaws Country Rock Bar. His friends said he went missing shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

Around the same time that night, rescue crews were called after two witnesses reported seeing a person walking on the river’s ice near Rotary Park before appearing to disappear into the water just east of the Sid Buckwold Bridge.

The search of the river was unsuccessful but crews confirmed they found footprints leading onto the ice and not returning.

Saskatoon police are investigating both incidents separately, but a spokesperson for the service said, because the reports fall on a similar timeframe, there is a chance it was MacIntosh who walked into the river.

MacIntosh’s phone died as he was calling a friend from outside Outlaws shortly before he went missing. His family originally believed he may have been walking towards the Confederation Park area, but they said Tuesday new information indicates he may have taken a “pub crawl” bus — a bus that visits several bars in one night — to the corner of 8th Street and Lorne Avenue.

Lynn Kohle, the mother of MacIntosh’s fiancée, told CTV that someone reported seeing MacIntosh walking down an alley towards the river. Kara Kohle, his fiancée’s sister, wrote in a Facebook post they believe MacIntosh went into the river.

“I hate to inform all that there has been sufficient evidence that Myles was the one who went into the river Saturday night. We are not giving up until DNA evidence is confirmed or the body found. But the likelihood as many of you know is just so high,” Kara wrote.

Kara told CTV her sister is having a very tough time dealing with the incident.

"They went for their cake testing on that afternoon. I opened up their fridge today, and there were those cupcakes sitting there," she said. "It’s not what’s supposed to be happening. She’s supposed to be stressing about her wedding right now."

MacIntosh is scheduled to get married Feb. 15. He is about six feet tall, 200 pounds with curly brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue suede suit jacket, a white T-shirt, jeans and black dress shoes.

Police are still interviewing witnesses who were at the bar Saturday night and still looking into surveillance video.
