It's the second-fastest growing city in the country according to census statistics and between a new city hall, housing construction and two major commercial developments, Martensville is expanding at all corners.

The city has a population of around 8,000 and with the number of residents projected to top the 10,000 mark by next year Martensville is attracting a lot of attention from developers

“I think we're sort of underserviced in terms of commercial so people are picking up on that and you're seeing a lot of development,” said Mayor Kent Muench. “We've hit that critical mass where Martensville is a great place to do business and we're seeing that investment.”

Two major retail developments spanning nearly 100 acres are almost at capacity, a Canadian Tire location is coming to the city and a four-storey hotel is under construction.

One business owner found Martensville to be the perfect area for a new 15-acre RV mall and TRX RV started moving trailers into the new building this week.

“I'm so happy with this location,” said Tim Oakes. “Of course we're on the second busiest highway in the province on its way to lake country.”

Construction crews are working on another new area of the community. Lake Vista is 160 acres of commercial and residential development and once complete, it will acommodate up to 3,000 residents said Darryl Altman of North Ridge Development

“This is the largest development North Ridge Developments has ever done,” Altman said. “We've done our due diligence to ensure we're putting the money into a community that's going to fill up and going to grow.”

The city has signed a letter of agreement to purchase 160 acres of land east of the community for a project would include additional residential and commercial growth.
