A man originally from Saskatoon is getting ready for a charity feat that will test his endurance.

Chad Guenter plans to paddle on a standup paddle board for seven days along the South Saskatchewan River this fall.

Guenter was in Saskatoon from Canmore Wednesday gearing up for the event.  He's doing it to raise awareness and funds for mental illness.

Guenter will launch from the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.  He plans to paddle for eight hours a day and arrive in Saskatoon on September 22.

A Facebook page called Keep Calm and Paddle On has been set up for anyone wishing to donate or get involved.

"It’s extremely close to me this cause.  It affects my family in a huge way and I’ve been very fortunate in my life to do traveling and other things a lot of people never get a chance to do, and I think it’s time I give a lot of that back and I’m hoping to do that with this paddle.”
