A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in a Saskatoon parking lot.

Police were called to a parking lot at 22nd Street West and Avenue F South, in front of Giant Tiger and near Tim Hortons, just before noon Tuesday. Witnesses reported a man was shot, police said in a media release.

Blood was visible on the ground at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators the victim was driven away in a vehicle. He was taken to hospital, according to police.

He suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspects fled on foot.

Several bystanders were in the area during the shooting. Police were still speaking with witnesses as of early Tuesday afternoon, and the victim’s condition was still unchanged.

No suspects were in custody but some people had been detained, according to a police spokesperson.
