A 49-year-old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer and uttering threats after being Tasered by police.

Officers were called at around 8 p.m. Wednesday to a disturbance at an apartment building in the 500 block of 24th Street East. When they arrived, officers found a man who allegedly became verbally and physically aggressive, police said in a news release.

After de-escalation tactics didn’t calm the man down, a Taser was deployed and he was taken into custody, according to police.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy, as is always the case when a Taser is used by an officer.
