A 40-year-old Saskatoon man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a stabbing outside Scotiabank Theatre.

Emergency crews were called to the downtown theatre, at the corner of 2nd Avenue South and 20th Street East, shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.

Police said in a media release a 48-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

Bystanders said they witnessed a fight after a man was dragged out of the theatre. One witness said they saw a man lying in a pool of blood.

The 40-year-old accused also breached probation, according to police.

He was scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Tuesday.
