A man is in hospital in stable condition, and a suspect under arrest, after a shooting on the 300 block of Avenue H South early Sunday morning.

The Saskatoon Police Service responded to a 911 call just after 1:00 a.m. and found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his arm. Police believe there was an argument between the victim and the suspect before the shooting.

A short time later, police carrying out speed enforcement on the east end of 8th St. say a pickup truck tried to evade officers. The truck got stuck in a field on the east end of Taylor St., and a man attempted to flee on foot. He was found under the deck of a house with the help of the canine unit. Police say he appears to have suffered a minor dog bite.

The man arrested from the truck turned out to be the suspect of the earlier shooting on Avenue H South, according to police. It is believed the victim knew the suspect.
