Saskatoon police have arrested a 27-year-old man after he was allegedly spotted in a stolen car early Saturday morning.
Police said it happened around 12:20 a.m. when the stolen vehicle was seen driving eastbound in the area of Eighth Street and Preston Avenue. Officers set up a traffic stop at 8th Street and Moss Avenue, but the driver of the car sped away from police, westbound on Eighth Street.
The driver continued to flee and collided with what police are calling, “a member of the public,” at Eighth Street and Arlington Ave.
Police said the man then fled the area on foot and was arrested shortly after in the 2800 block of Eighth St. E.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision, police said.
The 27-year-old man is charged with possession of stolen property, evading police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and failure to comply with court conditions.
He will see a justice of the peace later on Saturday.
