A 28-year-old man is facing assault, theft and impaired driving charges in connection with three incidents in Saskatoon late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Police were called to a business in the 3000 block of Diefenbaker Drive shortly before 10 p.m. following a reported theft of alcohol. An hour and a half later, officers were sent to a reported assault with a weapon near Spadina Crescent and Pinehouse Drive.

Officers found four victims upon arrival at the scene. The victims, who were not physically harmed, said they were assaulted by two men.

The men, according to police, then struck a vehicle and fled the scene.

The 28-year-old was arrested shortly after midnight when officers spotted a vehicle being driven erratically in the 200 block of Carleton Drive. The driver was stopped by police on the 100 block of Hospital Drive and identified as being involved in the two previous incidents — the reported theft and assault.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Wynard, Sask., according to police. The driver was charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, impaired driving, possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000 and theft under $5,000. He was also arrested on a warrant, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

The second man allegedly involved in the assault has yet to be located, police said.
