Police in the Maidstone area are warning residents about a potential scam.

According to Mounties, individuals approach property owners to tell them that they’ve been working on a paving project in the area, and they have leftover paving supplies to sell for a low price.

Police say they have received several reports, stating that after the work is completed, the seller requests a much higher price than was agreed upon, often pressuring people into paying.

The sellers often come prepared with pamphlets or handouts and construction vehicles that match the work they claim to do. Police say many of the complainants have reported that the sellers had an Irish accent.

If you are approached by one of these men, you are encouraged to contact police immediately.
