Direct care workers at an Outlook, Sask., group home are back at work after an 11-week lockout.

The workers at the non-profit Variety Place returned to the job Sunday after voting days earlier to accept a general wage increase, according to a news release from Service Employees’ International Union-West.

“We look forward to catching up with our participants and residents,” Carmela Verwimp, SEIU-West’s Variety Place unit chair, said. “It’s been a long time since we’ve seen them and we hope that they are doing well and are excited to get back to normal.”

Variety Place management locked out the union members May 21, the news release states.
