With just one day left until Rider training camp in Saskatoon, the Roughriders made one of their biggest pre-season announcements yet.

The green and white have reportedly made a deal with defensive end, John Chick.

Chick arrived fully bearded in Saskatoon Saturday afternoon after spending the last three seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colds and Jacksonville Jaguars.

In Chick’s last season with the Riders in 2009, he was the league’s top defensive player.

"I don't want to make any of those predictions but I do feel that I'm a better player than I was when I left. Things you pick up, guys you watch. The longer you play football the more you learn. Those are the major things, its just knowledge of the game more than anything,” Chick told reporters in the Saskatoon airport.

According to the football player, it wasn’t only the fans who wanted him back with the green and white.

“Ever since my wife and I left, again, we always I think had some thought of getting back so I'm just very excited, looking forward to the season, have very fond memories of being here and excited to play some football,” Chick said.
