A Saskatoon hotel was evacuated Tuesday evening after guests reported smelling smoke in the building.

Just after 5:00 p.m., guests at the Sandman Hotel were evacuated. After an investigation, fire officials say a fire had started above a ceiling in a banquet room. It was eventually contained by the hotel's sprinkler system.

Damage is estimated at $50,000. Investigators are still trying to determine a cause of the fire.
