Chad Boulet will always remember his little brother as the best man.

“We were always doing something goofy or funny or some joke to my mom or dad or each other. My best friend… gone,” said Chad, whose brother Dustin Boulet was celebrating his 29th birthday Friday night when he died outside a west side Saskatoon bar.

Saskatoon police have charged Nathan Joseph, 27, with second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with Boulet's death. Estevan Fuenzalida, 24, faces charges of being an accessory after the fact to the murder and assaults.

The accused made their first appearence in court on March 3, and will be back in court on March 6.

Police were called to a business on the 2400 block of 22nd Street West shortly after midnight Saturday where officers found three injured males. All three men were taken to hospital, with Dustin Boulet later dying of his injuries.

Chad told CTV he’d heard Dustin was injured while trying to break up a fight. He said Dustin, who worked for a local paving company, never hesitated to help others.

“He would give the shirt off his back to anybody. From what I gather he died breaking up a fight. He was stabbed breaking up a fight,” Chad said.

Dustin was the best man at Chad’s wedding. Chad said his younger brother had a good sense of humour and was always fun to be around. It’s not fair his brother was taken so soon, he said.

“He was a good kid. He was 29 years old, never got married or had kids. He was always there for his friends. His friends were always there for him. He loves all of us. He’s gone but he definitely is not forgotten. Never forgotten,” Chad said.

The other two men injured outside the bar were both 30 years old and suffered non-life threatening injuries. One was released from hospital around noon Saturday while the other remained in serious but stable condition.
