A helicopter pilot suffered minor injuries when the aircraft went down while moving cables for a power line construction project in northern Saskatchewan.

According to the Transportation Safety Board, the Eurocopter AS-350 helicopter crashed about 18 kilometres southeast of the remote community of Key Lake around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A TSB spokesperson says the helicopter was flying forward after dropping off some power cables when the tow line remained attached to the load and pulled the aircraft to the ground.

RCMP say the male pilot was taken to hospital in La Ronge with minor injuries and was later released. The helicopter was badly damaged but it remained upright and there was no fire.

A team of three TSB investigators has been sent to the area to examine the scene and interview witnesses. The team was expected to take two days to reach the remote site.
