INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis has added bulk to its offensive line by signing guard Ben Heenan from the CFL.

The 6-foot-4, 316-pound lineman was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 CFL draft. He played three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan where he played guard and tackle.

The 24-year-old — who turns 25 Thursday — won a Grey Cup with the Riders in 2013. He was released by the Saskatchewan squad on Monday to pursue NFL interests.

The signing is the second time in two days the Colts have added a player from the CFL. They signed 6-foot-5 receiver Duron Carter on Monday.

Heenan is one of three Canadian players to play in the East-West Shrine Game following his final college season.
