A 24-year-old man is in custody after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that sent a pedestrian to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Saskatoon police were called to the intersection of 23rd Street and Avenue Q around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses reported that an SUV travelling eastbound on 23rd Street struck a parked vehicle before hitting a pedestrian.

The driver continued for about a block before striking a curb, police said. He ran from the vehicle but was apprehended by police a short time later.

The victim, an adult male, was rushed to hospital by MD Ambulance.

Charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and failing to remain at the scene of a collision are pending against the 24-year-old, police said.
