Four people were arrested and a sawed-off shotgun was recovered after police chased a stolen vehicle across Saskatoon’s west side Saturday.

Police received a call shortly after 2 p.m. from a motorist who spotted a vehicle driving erratically on 22nd Street West. The caller reported one of the occupants in the vehicle was holding a firearm.

Officers located the vehicle — which police later discovered was stolen out of Alberta — in the far west end of the city but quickly called off the pursuit due to public safety concerns.

The car was then located in the Hudson Bay Park area before the pursuit moved into the Caswell Hill neighbourhood. Police boxed the stolen vehicle into a back alley just west of the 1100 block of Idylwyld Drive North, where the car crashed into a garage.

Two men, 19 and 24 years old, as well as a 19-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy were arrested, police said. A sawed-off shotgun was recovered.

All suspects are from Saskatoon. Numerous charges including criminal driving offences, theft and weapons-related offences are pending.

Police said they believe the incident is related to another report officers received while the pursuit was ongoing. A citizen came in to the Saskatoon police headquarters to report their vehicle was shot at near Fairlight Drive and 22nd Street.
