Gas prices shot up Thursday across Saskatchewan for the second time this week.

Several stations in Saskatoon and Regina were selling regular fuel at 84.9 cents per litre, and some in Saskatoon even listed prices as high as 86.9 cents, according to GasBuddy.com.

The increases marked a 20-cent jump over average prices in Saskatoon just days ago, and a 15-cent rise over Regina’s prices earlier this week.

Per-litre costs sat only a few days ago at about 64 cents in Saskatoon and about 68 cents in Regina, but jumped to 74.9 cents at several stations on Tuesday.

The GasBuddy website, which tracks fuel costs across Canada, showed Thursday that prices were trending up in Saskatchewan.

The provincial average, as of early Thursday evening, had increased nearly four cents over Wednesday’s 71.8-cents-per-litre price and was still climbing, according to the website.

Saskatoon’s average costs had jumped by six cents over Wednesday’s 73.3 price, and Regina’s had moved to 78.4 from 71.5.

Last week’s per-litre costs sat at 70.2 cents across the province, 66.4 in Saskatoon and 68.6 in Regina.
