As the two men accused in the murder of Dustin Boulet entered a Saskatoon courtroom Thursday, Chad Boulet stood, holding up a picture of his little brother.

“We'll be here every step of the way for my brother,” Chad told reporters outside Saskatoon provincial court. “He can't be here so we'll be here for him — every one of his friends — and we're going to get justice one way or another for my brother.”

Dustin died March 1 shortly after midnight while out celebrating his 29th birthday. He was stabbed trying to break up a fight outside a west side Saskatoon bar, according to family and friends.

Two men, 27-year-old Nathan Joseph and 24-year-old Estevan Fuenzalida, charged in the incident appeared in court Thursday.

Joseph is charged with second degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault while Fuenzalida faces charges of being an accessory after the fact to the murder and assaults.

Friends of both Dustin and the two men charged attended court.

“It’s a tragedy what happened. A young man lost his life. It’s senseless,” said Seku Kamara, who grew up with Dustin but was a close family friend of Joseph.

“I’m surprised because I wouldn’t expect that from him.”

Several of Dustin’s family and friends wore shirts with the words “Justice for Dustin” and “Never Forgotten” printed on the fronts and backs, respectively. A few friends have set up a fund to help pay for his funeral.

“It’s a shame that he lost his life saving the life of another,” said Evan Lavallee. “The last thing I want them stressing about is the cost of the funeral.”

The group has set up a donation account at all Affinity Credit Unions throughout Saskatchewan. Dustin's funeral will be held Sunday in Saskatoon.

Thursday’s bail hearing was adjourned until a later date. Fuenzalida will appear in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench March 11. Joseph will appear in provincial court March 31.
