LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. - Five people have been charged in what police are calling a kidnapping and extortion scheme.

RCMP received a report Thursday that a 25-year-old woman was being held against her will in a hotel in Lloydminster, Sask.

Police found three men and two women, as well as the victim.

A second victim was found at a different location; he'd been assaulted but was able to escape.

Police say the accused were demanding money and other valuables from both victims.

The five will remain in custody until Monday, when they are set to appear in provincial court.
