Workers at a Saskatoon flour mill had to evacuate the building after a fire Monday afternoon.

The blaze ignited in a milling machine used to grind flour at Horizon Milling on 33rd Street just after 4 p.m.

Firefighters had to dismantle the machine in order to extinguish the blaze. The fine dust present in the mill also required precautions to minimize the possibility of explosion, said a news release from Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 6 p.m.

One firefighter was examined on scene by medical personnel for heat exhaustion.

A damage estimate is not available.
