The town of LeRoy suffered a devastating blow Friday night after their hockey arena went up in flames around 7:30 p.m.

People in the town said the arena held a lot of the town’s history and acted as a centre of the community during the winter.

No one was injured during the fire, and firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The arena was home to the LeRoy Braves, the town’s figure skating club, as well as three minor hockey clubs. Community members said they’re hoping to find these teams a new home soon.
