The Saskatoon Fire Department was busy Thursday night as crews responded to four separate fires in just over three hours. The fire department is calling three of them suspicious.

The first call came in just after 9:30 p.m. about a garage fire in the 1700 block of First Avenue North. Crews battled the fire that fully engulfed a single detached garage with one vehicle inside. The fire department says that fire was accidental.

Just after 10 p.m. crews responded to a second garage fire in the 300 block of Avenue F South. Firefighters found heavy flame and smoke in the rear of the garage and put the fire out in 15 minutes.

Yvonne McLeod lives in the home. She said everyone had to make a quick exit, but got out safely.

“I told everyone there’s a fire outside! We were out in the front on the porch where we’re staying now,” McLeod said. “I was scared, I was shaking.”

Minutes later, the fire department received another call – this time a Jeep was on fire in a backyard one block away. The fire department said the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, but the fire was put out quickly.

After that, firefighters responded to a house fire on the same block just after midnight. Crews found flames at the rear of the home and extinguished the fire before it spread to the interior of the house.

Investigators said the three fires on Avenue F South are considered suspicious and believe they were deliberately set.

Saskatoon Police are asking the public for information on the fires.
