A Melfort man is facing charges after a fatal crash in north-central Saskatchewan.

RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision Saturday evening. A truck travelling east on Highway 789 collided with a car travelling south on a grid road near Kinistino, Sask., according to police.

The lone driver of the truck fled on foot but was arrested close to the collision scene, RCMP said in a news release.

Charges against the man, also 46 years old, include impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, failing to remain and resisting arrest.

He appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Tuesday morning. His next appearance is set for Sept. 12.
