A historic Broadway Avenue building will soon be torn down.

The real estate agent for the Farnam Block building — which has been vacant since Lydia’s Pub closed in 2013 — said the City of Saskatoon has approved its demolition.

The agent said the building’s owners had talks with heritage groups in the city, but that engineering reports showed the building has too many structural problems for renovations.

The new building will incorporate heritage aspects, according to the owners.

No timeline has been set for the building’s demolition, the real estate agent said.
