A youth who escaped custody last week has been arrested in west-central Saskatchewan.

RCMP apprehended the boy in the Battlefords shortly after 1:15 a.m. Thursday.

The boy was on special leave from the North Battleford Youth Centre when he escaped from two corrections staff, who were escorting him to a family member’s funeral on the Red Pheasant First Nation last week.

He is now charged with escaping lawful custody and resisting arrest. His name cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
