An inmate who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary is back in custody.

Lawrence Sewap was arrested by Prince Albert police Tuesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old, who is serving a sentence for several charges including aggravated assault and weapons possession, was discovered missing Sunday from the Prince Albert prison’s minimum security unit. He was not present during a head count, according to the Correctional Service of Canada.

Prince Albert police said in a media release that he will appear in provincial court Wednesday morning.
