From the Model-T to the Batmobile, the Draggins Rod and Custom Car show at Prairieland Park always brings out the best in American muscle. And the engines of classic cars are revving even hotter this year.

Draggins brought out some classics to Saskatoon this year, including the replica of a classic Hollywood hot rod: the car used in the movie Smokey and the Bandit, driven by Burt Reynolds in 1978.

Bruno Konecsni is a member of the team that helps showcase the over 300 cars at the show. "We have examples of led sleds and three window coups that you would see from movies like American Graffiti."

Some of the vehicles at the car show pre-date even the 20th century. There is a horseless carriage on display that dates back to 1899. The carriage can go about 5 miles per hour, which was revolutionary in its time.

The show also features some of the newer cars on the market, such as the Fire Breather, just released last fall. There are only two in Canada.

Whether it's fast cars or slow carriages, the show is the place in Saskatoon to remember the hot summer nights in the fast lane.

"When you look at the glitz, the shine, the chrome, the music," said Konecsni, "it brings back all those memories."
