Dennis Beerling has been named the CTV Saskatoon Citizen of the Year for 2013.
“Dennis truly exemplifies community service,” said David Fisher, vice-president and general manager of CTV Saskatchewan.
“His commitment to our sports and arts community and the youth of our city has influenced and inspired many generations.”
Beerling has coached softball, track and field, basketball and hockey at local, provincial and national levels. He has also volunteered and served on many sports boards including the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association.
An important fixture in the local arts community as well, Beerling is one of the founders of Gateway Players, and has served with the Saskatoon Theatre for Children.
He has also directed countless productions with elementary and high schools, Saskatoon Summer Players, and Mayfair United Church.
