Damage is estimated at $50,000 after a fire Tuesday morning at a Broadway Avenue laundromat.

Firefighters were called just after 5 a.m. to a report of smoke in the building at 835 Broadway Ave., according to a news release from Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services.

Fire crews found that a small fire in the rear of the building had mostly extinguished itself.

The owner of the business had discovered the fire after being contacted by an alarm company regarding an intrusion alarm. No one was injured  during the blaze.

A fire investigator confirmed the fire was caused from oil-soaked rags whcih were allowed to self-heat to the point of self-ignition.
