Saskatoon fire crews battled two blazes on Saturday evening.

Heavy smoke came from a third floor apartment at 895 Confederation drive. The fire department received multiple 9-1-1 calls at 9:45 p.m. and was on the scene in three minutes.

All of the occupants were evacuated form the building, however, one woman suffered smoke inhalation. She had gone into the suite looking for a man. MD ambulance treated her on the scene and she was taken to hospital.

The fire was under control within 17 minutes.  Occupants were allowed back into their suites after the scene was declared safe of carbon monoxide.

Damage to the suite is estimated to be $10,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

However, the cause of a different fire earlier in the evening is known.

Firefighters responded to a 9-1-1 call of smoke coming from a dryer in a home on Avenue D North.

Three fire trucks were sent to the scene where crews extinguished the fire. The wall behind the dryer was checked with a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had not extended behind the wall.

The damage was estimated to be less than $1,000.

Residents returned to their home when the carbon monoxide levels were deemed safe by fire fighters.
