Crews are working to clear the streets after Saskatoon’s first major snowfall of the season.

At least 10 centimetres of snow accumulated late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, which triggered a snow event for the city. Contract crews were called in to assist with the clearing.

Sanding, plowing, and de-icing of priority one streets started during the storm, and crews started on priority two and three streets as the snow started to subside.

The snow triggered the start of the 72-hour priority street cleanup timeline at 6:30 a.m. If there is excessive snow in the next few days, crews may have to return to the main arteries, which would delay the clearing of other streets.

Once the snow event ends, crews will move onto school zones, and business districts.
