The St. Louis Bridge on Highway 2 between Prince Albert and Wakaw will be closed for at least a week, according to the province’s department of highways.

A crack in the road surface that crosses both lanes on the bridge led the highways ministry to close the bridge Friday.

A spokesperson for the ministry said it will remain closed for at least a week as they investigate the damage.

Both northbound and southbound traffic is being re-routed to highways 3 and 25.

The former railway bridge is more than a century old and construction on a new bridge through St. Louis, Sask. is set to get underway this winter.
