Around 800 people packed TCU Place in Saskatoon Thursday night to honor Grant and Liza Kook. The Saskatoon philanthropists were honored by the United Way for their many years of community service.

The Kooks have a long history of giving back to the community, from their work with the Children’s Hospital Foundation to the Vanier Cup and community children’s programs.

The annual “dinner date” has raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the United Way, which has a goal in 2012 of raising 6.7 million dollars.

The first United Way Dinner Date was held in 1996, and since then the event has raised nearly two million dollars.

The event was MC’d by CTV’s Trish Cheveldayoff.
