Wednesday is Saskatoon’s first ever We Day. The day is a chance to celebrate the movement of young people leading the way in global and local change.
Close to 15,000 people will be a part of the big day, but not just anyone can buy a ticket to get in. Students earned the right to participate in We Day by taking action to help make the world a better place. The day itself is even put together by a dedicated team of roughly 700 volunteers.
While We Day is a big cause to celebrate, organizers from Free the Children noted that the spirit of the day doesn’t end when the lights go down tomorrow. “Between this time and all of next year we will be supporting the schools, sending speakers, sending teachers to support curriculum information,” said Marc Kielburger, co-founder of Free the Children.
Wednesday’s We Day festivities include performances by Hedley and Sean Desman and appearances by Mia Farrow and Martin Sheen.
