Many people in Saskatoon are expected to pay their respects Wednesday at a memorial service for former Saskatoon Blades Captain and retired police officer, Bruce Gordon.

Gordon passed away on Friday September 29th after a battle with stage-four pancreatic cancer. The Saskatchewan man grew up on a small farm near Marsden. Gordon moved to Saskatoon at a young age where he would late go on to become Captain of the Saskatoon Blades for the 1981-82 hockey season.

After hockey, Gordon became a police officer and served 28 years with the Saskatoon Police Service. He was honoured with the Exemplary Service Medal in 2004 and the Chief’s Award of Excellence in 2012.

Gordon led an active lifestyle. One of his greatest accomplishments included completed the Penticton Ironman, a feat he managed to repeat nine times.

Later in life, Gordon launched his legal career and was called to the bar in June of 2017 before he passed away at the age of 54.

Gordon will be missed by many friends and family members, including his wife Chris, his children Jillian and James, and many grandchildren.

A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at Elim Church, located at 419 Slimmon Rd, at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
