Mayoral candidate Charlie Clark held a news conference Friday about his plans to revitalize neighbourhoods throughout Saskatoon.

Clark said he would like the city to introduce a four-year plan to ensure there’s enough money to fix roads, sidewalks, parks and playgrounds in neighbourhoods throughout Saskatoon.

“What I’m proposing is to reinvest in these neighbourhoods and to make sure that we’re looking after what we’ve already built,” Clark said. “I know we can do it, but we have to make decisions between reinvesting what we already have, or (look) at a laundry list of new, very expensive, mega projects that don’t have financial plans in place.”

Clark said the city can’t look after infrastructure basics if it takes on new projects, such as mayoral candidate Don Atchison’s plan to move rail lines out of the downtown area.

Saskatoon’s civic election is set for Oct. 26.

Atchison was leading Clark 26 to 23 per cent in Mainstreet/Postmedia’s most recent poll, released Friday. Candidate Kelley Moore was in third with 22 per cent support, while newcomer Devon Hein was at one per cent.
