The city has approved a new cell tower policy requiring more public input into where towers go up.
Under the old system, companies building towers less than 15 meters tall and less than 30 meters from residential homes didn’t need to hold public consultations. Now, they’ll have to consult with the community.
The new policy sets out preferred locations for the towers.
The city would like to see new towers built into existing structures like light poles and traffic lights.
