A 44-year-old Delmas, Sask. man is facing numerous gun charges after shots were reportedly fired on the Onion Lake First Nation.

RCMP received numerous complaints late Wednesday night that shots were fired near the Onion Lake bus shop.

Officers from RCMP detachments in Onion Lake, St. Walburg, Maidstone, Turtleford and Lloydminster responded, and at 3 a.m. Thursday morning, a man matching the suspect’s description was spotted walking on Chief Taylor Road in the community.

He was taken into custody at 3:30 a.m. outside a nearby residence following a brief foot chase with police.

No one in the community was injured, police said.

The man has since been charged with discharging a firearm in a reckless manner with intent to endanger life, uttering threats, pointing a firearm, carrying a firearm for a dangerous purpose, possessing a firearm without a licence, and being intoxicated on a dry reserve.

Onion Lake First Nation is located about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster.
