A private liquor store permit in Carrot River has been awarded to the Carrot River Co-op after the SLGA cancelled the permit of the previous winner because of a conflict of interest.

The retail store permit was initially awarded to the Carrot River Inn as part of the province’s plan to privatize 50 liquor outlets across Saskatchewan. However, when it was discovered MLA Fred Bradshaw owned a portion of the inn, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority cancelled the permit and issued a new request for proposals.

The Co-op was chosen from four applications and announced as the permit winner Friday.
