A teen accused of brandishing a knife to steal a women’s vehicle Wednesday night had his getaway foiled by poor driving.

Saskatoon police say the vehicle was stolen at knifepoint while the woman was parking it in the 1700 block of 20th Street West just after 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle was spotted shortly after and a police chase ended quickly when the vehicle crashed into a cement pillar at Avenue D South and Spadina Crescent.

A 17-year-old male was arrested at the scene and a knife was found in the vehicle. Police say charges including robbery with violence are pending.

No one was injured during the incident.
